About the original: Lemon Tree and Grape Vine with Trellis Window was made in New York, sometime between 1902 and 1910. The design is attributed to Agnes F. Northrop and the window itself was created by Tiffany Studios under the artistic direction of Louis C. Tiffany. The piece is made of glass, cut and assembled with lead came and copper foil. It measures 73 x 31 inches. N.86.W.15. Photo by David Schlegel.
Louis C. Tiffany’s famous windows and lamps are celebrated for their richly colored glass and timeless beauty. A treasure of The Neustadt's collection, this vibrant window was likely custom made for a grand private home. As sunlight passed through the glass, a vision of perpetual summer would illuminate the room. Yellow lemons and purple grapes hang heavy on twisting vines, with lush foliage brought to life by more than 20 shades of green glass.
