Mewtwo was the first human-made Pokemon, designed in a lab by the nefarious Team Rocket using the DNA of Mew. Mewtwo captured and cloned many Pokemon belonging to Trainers, including Ash Ketchum from Pallet Town, and forced Mew into battle. It was through the efforts of Ash's trusty partner Pikachu that Mewtwo saw the true bond between Pokemon and Pokemon Trainer, and it decided to release all its captives back to their friends.
